2020 Market Season

19 May

We are very excited to announce the Pawling Farmers Market will be making a return on Saturday June 13, 2020. Never has there been a more important time to be able shop for groceries outside, in the fresh air.

In order to open the market we have to abide by the rules set out by the NYS Department of Agriculture & Markets. As a result the market will look and feel quite different this year. We are committed to providing this valuable resource to the community while doing everything we can to keep our vendors, customers and volunteers safe. Please take a moment to read through the rules our customers and vendors will be required to follow at the market.

How will the 2020 market be different?

  • The market will remain in the village but we will be moving to the green north of the Chamber of Commerce. This area allows us to spread out and cordon off the market so we can control the flow of customers and maintain social distancing.
  • The first 30 minutes of the market (9-9.30 am) will be reserved for shoppers who are older, immuno-compromised, or pregnant.
  • 9:30 am will be the opening time for all other customers.
  • Customers and vendors are required to wear a mask at all times.
  • Customers must maintain 6 feet of distance.
  • The market will be cordoned off so we can manage the number of people shopping. You may be required to line up and wait to enter the market during busy times.
  • Farmers Markets are permitted only to sell food, alcohol and soap. There will be no artisan vendors this year.
  • No food or drink can be consumed on the market premises.
  • To discourage congregating, music and other events are prohibited this year.

Our approach for the market follows the CDC and NYS Department of Agriculture and Markets official guidelines. The Pawling Farmers Market will continue to update these protocols to reflect the guidelines from the CDC, New York State and Dutchess County Departments of Health, NYS Department of Agriculture & Markets, The Farmers Market Federation of New York, the Farmers Market Coalition, local and state government.

We are putting our best foot forward in this very challenging and difficult time. We thank you for your continued support of the market and our vendors.

Despite all of the changes, the rules, the cordons and the social distancing, we are excited to bring our community together. We want to create a safe and fun environment for you to enjoy the wonderful produce from our local farmers. We ask you to please be patient, have fun, fill up your shopping bags and follow the rules!

Thank you!
