What a line up!

7 Sep

Local band Space Dog will be rocking the band stand today – be sure to stop by and check out their energizing mix of great music.

Harlem Valley Homestead, based in Wingdale, has fast become a mainstay of the market and the greater community, with its emphasis on connecting folks to the land through darn good food and earth-based farm projects. Each week they bring to the market their flavorful herbs and vegetables, and pork! Those happy Berkshire pigs are raised in woodlot, fed organic grain and abundant farm veggies. No wonder they taste so luscious!

Labor Day weekend…

29 Aug

We mark the end of summer this weekend, but not the end of the growing season. Thankfully we have 7 more markets to savor and enjoy the wonderful Pawling Farmer’s market and all the produce we have to offer.

New this week, Harlem Valley Homestead will be bringing their farm raised pork to the market, pair that with some Trapani Farm peaches and some greens from Grape Hollow Farm and you have a perfect meal to celebrate the long weekend with.

We are also excited to welcome back the very talented Kathleen Heidemann of The Slab pottery and the Nubi soap team with their handmade soaps made from green tea, goji berry, coffee, charcoal, and angelica root, these are not your average cleansing bars!

Don Lowe will be providing a little musical flare to events.

So bring your friends and family down to the village on Saturday morning and kick off the long weekend with a bag full of goodies!

This Saturday at the market

Chopped salads, platters of crunchy vegetables, hunks of cheese and chunks of crusty bread, sizzling grilled goodness, super sweet fruits. Take the farmer’s market challenge and head to the market with an open mind, an empty basket and see what catches your eye.

We welcome Perry Hill Farm to the market this Saturday. Based in Millbrook, they will bring their sun-powered herbal, glycerin soaps and salves. “We use our own organically grown or wild-crafted herbs. Since 1991, no chemical fertilizers or pesticides have been used on our farm.”

Dog days of summer…

1 Aug

Be sure to bring your pup to the market this Saturday. Jean Kolor from First Friend Canine Consulting will be at the market to share dog training tips and tricks. She is an amazing trainer who only uses positive reinforcement techniques.

Be sure to bring your kids as well, the Pawling Fire Department will have a couple of fire engines in the parking lot next to the Chamber building.

Continuing our dog theme, Coast to Coast are our vendor of the week. Coast to Coast is one of the market’s original vendors, each week bringing their probably-good-enough-for humans-to-eat dog treats. They’re packed with flaxseeds, peanut butter, cranberries, oat flour, pumpkin, butternut squash, and parsley (mercifully not in one biscuit!). Linda and Jay Bloomer believes that “making healthy organic dog treats (using no corn, wheat or soy) is not only good for dogs, but good for the environment as well. By using pesticide-free ingredients, the land and water remain untainted by chemicals, helping to make it safe for today and for the future.”

There’s something for everyone…

25 Jul

Are you noticing what a great array of produce is available on the market? From mushrooms, to stone fruits, to cheese and bread, meat to vegetables. It’s a great time of year to enjoy the varied and fresh produce our farmers are harvesting for us.

If that wasn’t enough, we also have a wonderful compliment of guest vendors to add a little variety to your Pawling Farmer’s Market tote bag.

  • Nubibinu Soaps specialize in Astragalus Root Soap, their products contain 100% natural ingredients. Cut down on those plastic bottles of shower gel and hand wash and go soap!
  • The Slab Pottery will be showcasing their beautifully designed ceramics. They add a little fun and creativity to any home.
  • Did you sample Broken Bow Brewery‘s ales last time they were here? They make a great range of craft beers, be sure to stop by and give them a try.

In the true spirit of ‘there’s something for everyone’, we also have a couple of events to tempt you to the market.

  • Scribble Art for kids make a return with their drawing and coloring workshop
  • Maria Reade will be on hand to give you a 101 on all things related to composting
  • Ron Renninger will be proving the music

See you on Saturday!
